18.12.2019 | The price level of CO2 emission allowances has varied considerably since the introduction of the EU emissions trading scheme (ETS), which may have an impact on the guiding effect of the system in the short and long term. A regional carbon price floor (CPF) has been proposed as a means to ensure the guiding effect of emissions trading in all market situations. What has been suggested is to introduce CPF regionally, e.g. in the Nordic countries or in the Nordic and Baltic countries.

13.3.2023 | As many as 41% of Finnish companies have experienced trade barriers in their international operations in recent years. Most of the examined trade barriers between 2019 and 2022 occurred in countries outside the EU, especially in Russia, the United States and China. However, according to a study conducted by ETLA Economic Research for the Finnish Government, companies also encountered trade barriers in the EU.

6.6.2022 | The determined promotion of exports and internationalisation in Finnish business life is increasingly important. An efficiently operating Team Finland network plays a key role in this. According to an assessment published by the Government’s analysis, assessment and research activities on 6 June, the operating model of the network has clearly developed but there is still room for improvement in the network activities.

De flesta undersökta handelshindren mellan 2019 och 2022 förekom i länder utanför EU, särskilt i Ryssland, Förenta staterna och Kina. Företagen har emellertid stött på hinder även på EU-området, framgår det av en utredning som Näringslivets forskningsinstitut (Etla) har utarbetat för statsrådet.

För att säkerställa utsläppshandelns styrande effekt i alla marknadssituationer har man föreslagit att det införs ett golvpris på utsläppsrätter. Man har också diskuterat möjligheten att införa ett golvpris på regional nivå, till exempel i Norden eller både i Norden och i Baltikum.
