Ministerial Committee on Economic Policy supports financing for Finnish vaccine development – project to study launch of vaccine production
On 22 June, the Ministerial Committee on Economic Policy gave its support for the Finnish Government’s participation in financing domestic vaccine development and production. The Committee justified its support based on innovation and business policy and financial security of supply.
The Prime Minister’s Office has launched a project to develop and experiment in practice with the application of behavioural data in managing the COVID-19 crisis, including in preparing policy measures and assessing the behavioural impacts of the crisis and in planning and implementing communications. The aim is to strengthen the central government’s capacity to apply behavioural data within the ministries and the agencies operating under them.
The coronavirus (COVID-19) crisis has had a considerable impact on people’s livelihoods and everyday lives, the ability of businesses to operate viably, and the shape and direction of the Finnish economy. This fourth supplementary budget proposal for 2020 is part of the Government's coronavirus crisis follow-up package, which focuses on ensuring an economically, ecologically and socially sustainable emergence from the crisis. The supplementary budget proposal contains a package of measures amounting to EUR 5.5 billion for supporting the recovery and revitalisation of the economy.
