19.3.2019 | Finland is committed to achieving the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (2030 Agenda) by 2030. Finland was ranked third best in the assessment of sustainability in all UN Member States published in 2018, and Finland also has a strong reputation as a global leader in sustainable development work. Yet, we have a long way to go to achieve the 2030 Agenda goals.

30.4.2020 | Climate change and other current global crises are increasing the need to assess the sustainability of tourism. A project investigating culturally and socially sustainable tourism in cultural environments has developed a triangulation model for visitation sustainability emphasising the values of sites as cultural environments. Culture can act as an intermediary and a balancing factor between the different dimensions of sustainability.

27.2.2023 | Finland is among the leading countries in promoting sustainable development. However, in light of the current situation it may be difficult for Finland to achieve the goals of the 2030 Agenda. The main challenges Finland is facing are related to ecological sustainability, global responsibility and negative transboundary impacts. It is important to continue the determined and long-term efforts to achieve the goals of the 2030 Agenda.
